A Space to Breathe
When Mike Ferry from Ferry and Sons said “you need to re-brand me missus’ new Yoga business” there was little we could say to the 6ft 4″ stonemason other than “okay”.
With 21 years experience working in yoga studios and gyms all across Liverpool, Susie was no sleeping giant either; far from it setting up shop herself with a new and exciting concept. With a vast following of devoted clients all eagerly awaiting Susie’s next move in the Yoga world, it was important that we got this right.
At the forefront of Susie’s business idea was wellness, providing a place where people could relax and make time for themselves. For Susie this was also about her own wellness, somewhere were she could manage her business, her expectations and also have a good quality of life making time for her family and getting them on board with this new business lifestyle choice. All of which would be run from her new custom built studio in her garden.
Running a series of wellness, yoga, pilates and rehabilitation classes from a new studio built in the garden of her home, the concept was fresh and innovative. Wanting to move away from the larger classes that were part of wider curriculum at gyms, Susie wanted to offer a more personal, boutique experience where she could focus on individuals and smaller groups.
“I created the Wellness Garden to have a space where I can help people to rehabilitate their mind and body on a more personal level.”
Susie Ferry
Our brief was to create a brand which would compliment her offering: calming, fresh, organic, modern and positive. With both name and identity designed to promote a clear mind – and ultimately a place where people could escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Our approach to the brand was to hero the most unique aspects of Susie’s business, this couldn’t just be a logo, this needed to be a reason to believe.
Representing the studio box in a non-complex form, we removed the inner detailing, creating an open, spacious form which had no limits. Working alongside the mark we decided on a friendly but confident type face.
To compliment the mark we chose a soft and organic colour palette, made up of natural sage tones which could be paired with simple flowing illustrations which promote nature and wellbeing.
The project and identity came to life when our in-house photography and video team visited the space and captured one of Susie’s amazing classes. Bright, positive action shots of people holding poses work alongside organic plant and flower imagery to create the calming feeling that people associate with Susie’s classes. Another result of the shoot was a warm and soft brand video that gives people a true taste of the Wellness Garden experience.
We produced a full website for Wellness Garden – a place for Susie to tell her story and ambitions with the project, as well as somewhere clients could get into the calming and clear headspace of the project before even stepping foot in the studio. It was key that every step of the process from booking and initial contact induced this feeling and felt consistent.
Susie is a super ambitious client already looking to continue developing the brand further, offering an array of retreats and workshops, as well as branded equipment such as mats and sportswear.
Bookings have been through the roof since launch, making Wellness Garden the place to go for yoga, pilates and rehabilitation.
